SAN ANGELO MUSEUM Of Fine Arts Presents Below the Brim: Discussing the Global Language of Headwear. On November 20th from 5:30 pm - 7 pm in the Grand Hall of the museum. Hear from the experts about the objects in The Global Language of Headwear, including Suzanne Sugg's collection of CHinese Children's Hats. The Curator of The Global Language of Headwear, Stacey Miller, Rochester NY, will discuss the hats in the exhibit and how she brought the collection together. Stacey is the owner ot Hat Horizons and a collector of and authority on head coverings from around the world. Her first hat purchase was from Istanbul over 40 years ago, when she joined a group of Spaniards driving from Madrid to India on an overland adventure. Since then, she has acquired more than 1300 hats and headdresses from over 150 countries and many more ethnic groups. This event is free and open to the public. Pamela Najdowski, Santa Fe NM, will tell us more about the CHinese children's hats from Suzanne Sugg's collection, also on display in the exhibit. Pam was determined to find the exquisite silk Chinese Children's Hats she had glimpsed at a Santa Fe's annual ethnographic show and in her treasured copy of the Lin family's book Stories of Chinese Children's Hats. SAMFA galleries will remain open until 8pm, light refreshments provided.
